The Madison Alumnae and Patronesses of SAI met together with Rho Chapter at the Luther Memorial Church. The afternoon began with a spectacular organ concert featuring all three of the instruments in the church filling the cathedral space with fantastic music. Following the musicale, the women of Rho chapter remembered the seven musicians who started SAI with a tribute of words and music.
The Madison Alumnae presented Rho member Lindsey Castellano with the annual SAI Scholarship Award, then the large handful of recent Rho initiates attending the meeting were introduced. Following the meeting, there was a brunch of coffee cake, cookies, and punch.
Next Saturday April 19 is Province Day at Lawerence University in Appleton. Contact Peggy for registration and carpooling.

Reminder: Mark your calendars for Province Day with the Xi chapter at Lawrence University on April 19th as we celebrate the 90th anniversary of our chapter! You will be getting more detailed information closer to the event, but in the meantime, could you please send us an approximate number of those attending the event by March 20th? This will really help our planning. Province Day will also include a musicale featuring American and Women composers, so please be thinking ahead if you would like to participate.

The annual SAI Brunch and Silent Auction was on Saturday, February 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church. Nearly three dozen Madison area SAI's from the student Rho, Alumnae, and Patroness chapters in attendence. All enjoyed the good food, silent auction (there was some friendly competition for a couple items!), and companionship on a cold snowy morning. The auction raised over $130 for SAI service projects and the scholoarship fund.

Our January meeting was an SAI lunch at Basie's at the Radisson. We had a good turnout, of about eleven members, (nine alums and two patronesses). It was a social time, and much enjoyed by everyone there.
A brief reminder to Madison SAI sisters: The annual Brunch and Silent Auction is approaching fast! The Brunch will be on Saturday, February 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3910 Mineral Point Road. If you are able to attend, please send a check for $7.00 to treasurer Nancy Becknell. We MUST have your money in advance, so please check your calendar and send off your check as soon as possible.
ALSO, start looking in your closets and drawers for items for the Silent Auction! This is a big fund-raiser for SAI Alums each year. Hope to see you there!

A summary of our November meeting: We met Monday afternoon, November 19, at the home of Phyllis Reisdorf. Betsy Dunne presented a "slide show" from her trip to Egypt, with time for questions and answers, afterward. We had a good turnout for the meeting.

The SAI Madison Alumnae Chapter had their first
meeting of the fall on Tuesday evening. Peggy Walters invited us
to her home for a formal meeting followed by a presentation given
by Sandy Erickson. Sandy's talk was titled "Small, Medium,
and Big: The Sound of Recorders." She plans to teach 3 to 5
year-olds in a local headstart program a few basic concepts about
wind instruments and the music they can make. Her animated presentation
was a "dry run" for the real thing in a month's time.
Members were incredibly supportive and had some great suggestions!
I think we all especially enjoyed the participation of the Rho Chapter
students, who excelled at role-playing preschoolers during Sandy's
presentation.
